Instructed by some of the most experienced wildlife veterinarians in Africa, the Malilangwe Wildlife Capture Course provides practical, interactive training in the safe, effective, and ethical use of chemical and physical restraint in capture, management, and veterinary care of wild animals.

Who is the course for?

With an emphasis on building veterinary and conservation capacity in Zimbabwe and neighboring African countries, since the 1980s the Course has provided practical hands-on training for hundreds of wildlife veterinarians, conservation professionals, wildlife researchers, welfare specialists and academics from all corners of the Globe.

 

Attracting a diverse array of participants, with different professional backgrounds from a wide array of countries around the World,  the Course presents a unique networking and learning opportunity for students and instructors alike.

Content & accreditation

The Course comprises an equal combination of theoretical and practical hands-on instruction and  is accredited for training of Dangerous Drugs Licensees in Zimbabwe, as well as for the purposes of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) with the National Veterinary Councils in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Namibia.

When

The  10-day Course is held in February of each year. 

Next Course dates:

 Friday 7th to Sunday 15th February 2025

 (inclusive of exams)

Where

The Course is held on the Malilangwe Wildlife Estate, located near Chiredzi in the south-east lowveld of Zimbabwe.

 

Malilangwe is a 105 000 acre multi-use game ranch hosting a wide range of wildlife including the "Big-5" and is the perfect location in which to provide students with a rich hands-on learning experience.

HOW TO GET THERE

Participants can either make their own way by road or fly into Harare, where overnight accommodation and group transport to Malilangwe can be booked by  prior  arrangement.
